UniSysCat member Prof. Dr. Roderich Süßmuth from Technical University Berlin has been awarded the Max Bergmann Medal 2020 for his outstanding scientific achievements in the field of peptide natural products. Retrospectively for 2020, the prestigious award was finally handed over to him at the annual meeting of the Max Bergmann Kreis in autumn 2021.

The 2021 Max Bergmann Medal was given to Dr. Ingmar Hoerr (CureVac AG, Tübingen) honoring his achievements in the field of the development of messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines as a novel active ingredient principle.

The Max-Bergmann-Kreis e.V. is a non-profit association of scientists from academia and industry. With a deliberately low membership, the Kreis focuses on promoting research into peptides and related areas, in particular biologically important proteins and small, biologically active pharmaceutical molecules. They have been awarding the Max Bergmann Medal for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of peptide chemistry since 1980. The Max Bergmann Medal is awarded at an annual conference in recognition of outstanding scientific work.
