Dr. Michelle Browne

Academic Background

Dr. Michelle Browne (b. Dublin, Ireland. 1990) graduated from Dublin City University with a B.Sc. in Analytical Science in 2012. In 2017, she obtained a Ph.D in Chemistry from Trinity College Dublin (TCD) Ireland under the supervision of Prof. Michael Lyons and Prof. Paula Colavita.

After a short research position under Prof. Colavita, Michelle moved to Queens University Belfast (QUB) to become a research fellow under Prof. Andrew Mills. In 2018, Michelle moved to the University of Chemistry and Technology (UCT) Prague on a Marie Curie concept fellowship under the mentorship Prof. Martin Pumera. In 2019, Michelle was awarded a Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Mobility grant to conduct a research stay at the Electrochemical Innovation lab in University College London with Prof Dan Brett. Michelle is currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellow in Trinity College Dublin under the mentorship of Prof. Valeria Nicolosi.

Michelle is on the committee of the RSC Electrochemistry Interest group, outreach editor for Applied Materials Today and a member of the inaugural ‘Early Career Advisory Board’ of ChemElectroChem. To date, Michelle has published over 35 papers in internationally peer-reviewed journals and has received numerous awards.

Research Interests

Development of active and stable catalysts for electrochemical energy conversion and storage applications through rational design and understanding of reaction intermediates through in-situ and operando techniques.
